LEED Energy and Atmosphere:
A Brighter Alternative
LittleFootprint Lighting’s LED personal task lights may help meet the requirements for energy efficiency credits in the LEED Energy and Atmosphere (EA) area of several rating systems*:
- Building Design and Construction: Optimize Energy Performance
- Building Operations and Maintenance: Optimize Energy Efficiency Performance
- Interior Design and Construction: Optimize Energy Performance-Lighting Controls
Long-lasting, energy-saving LED task lighting improves a building’s energy
performance in two key ways:
- By reducing the amount of energy needed to light the building – which can mean
fewer greenhouse gases in our atmosphere (since much of our energy is still
produced by burning fossil fuels) - By producing much less heat – which can help reduce the need for
air conditioning
Our LED personal task lights take it a step further: whereas many portable desk/task lamps suck a little bit of energy even when turned off, we’ve designed our LED desk lamps with the switch between the plug and the internal power supply, to avoid this waste of energy. So when you turn off a LittleFootprint Lighting LED desk lamp, it’s really off. There are no vampires around here!
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, buildings consume about 39 percent of the total energy and 74 percent of the electricity produced annually in the United States.1 Replacing inefficient lighting systems with LED task lighting can play an important role in lessening the negative impacts of lighting our buildings.
